The coronavirus pandemic has seen a rise in the use of video calling apps like Zoom. To compete with Zoom, Microsoft offered premium features of Teams for free to consumers and the company has also been working on adding new features to the service.
Earlier this month, Microsoft updated its Teams roadmap to include plans to increase the participant limit to 300 users. Today, the Redmond giant announced that Teams users can now add up to 300 participants in a call. Mike Tholfsen, Product Manager on the Microsoft EDU team confirmed the changes in a tweet.

Microsoft has noted that the participant limit for Teams for Government (GCC, GCC High, DoD) is still at 250 participants. The company plans to update its Docs page once the government cloud limit increases from 250 to 300.

Microsoft also has a bunch of features in the pipeline for the Teams users including 7x7 grid, breakout rooms for students and more. Last month, the company added the ability to pop out chats into dedicated windows as well as added official support for custom backgrounds.
