SuperSpeed RamDisk / RamDisk Plus
SuperSpeed RamDisk v7.0.0.6 [1,95 Мб]
RamDisk and RamDisk Plus use memory management (up to 512 GB) and gate (for blazing speed) technologies to create a virtual disk. Virtual because it is not a physical hard disk but appears like one to the operating system and programs. RamDisk takes a portion of RAM to create this virtual disk. The RAM disk gets a drive letter, can have a file system, and can be seen in Windows Explorer. Therefore you can copy, move and delete files from it. And, much like a physical disk, a RAM disk can be formatted, compressed and shared, so as to be accessed by other computers on a network.
Probably the most important difference between a RAM disk and a hard disk is its access, or I/O (Input/Output) speed. The time taken for a hard disk to move its magnetic heads over the spinning disks (much like an old vinyl record player) is typically measured in milliseconds (thousandths of a second). Whereas a RAM disk does not have mechanical parts and its I/O speed is typically measured in nanoseconds (billionths of a second). Therefore, a RAM disk's performance is many times greater than a hard disk.
Security and risk: Another important difference between a RAM disk and a hard disk is persistency. The data stored on a hard disk remains even when the power is removed. The data stored on a RAM disk disappears when the power is removed. For sensitive data, this attribute may be desirable, as all information stored on the RAM disk is destroyed when the system is powered down.
However, if the system accidentally loses power or crashes, all data on the RAM disk will be lost.
Minimum System Requirements for RamDisk
Operating Systems:
- Windows 2000 Professional; Windows XP Home or Professional
Processor (CPU) Support:
- 300 MHz processor or higher
- All Intel and AMD Pentium-class platforms
- Itanium & Opteron 64-bit processor families
- All multiprocessor configurations of the above which are supported by Windows™
Memory Support:
- Minimum: 256 MB RAM
- Recommended: 512 MB or greater
- Maximum: as per the amount recognized by Microsoft Windows™. On Windows - 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional: 4 GB
- Types: all including SDRAM, DDR, Rambus etc.
Other considerations:
16 MB free disk space for installation

RamDisk Plus [1,95 Мб]
RamDisk Plus shares the same features and performance as RamDisk. Its patent-pending technology adds the ability to automatically save the RAM disk’s contents when the system is shutdown, and to load it when the system is re-started. This feature ensures that service and application data stored on the RAM disk is preserved between re-boots.
Data persistence: When enabled, RamDisk Plus automatically saves the entire image of the RAM disk to a special image file located on a user-specified disk partition or volume at system shutdown. During the subsequent system start-up, RamDisk Plus automatically loads the image into the RAM disk. Data on a “Plus” RAM disk is accessible very early in the boot process, and is immediately available to the operating system, services and other applications.
Please note this "backup" and "restore" functionality is only performed during the operating system's shutdown and restart cycle. If the system crashes or loses power, any changed or new content will be lost. When the system is rebooted, the contents of the RamDisk will be the same as they were at the previous shutdown. An attached Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) can reduce the risk of loss but not eliminate it. For lowest-risk solutions see SuperVolume and SuperCache.

- Sufficient free hard disk space to support backup functionality. For example: A 1 GB RAM disk needs 1 GB of free disk space for image backup
