We've got a new snapshot for you today, happy testing!

WARNING: These are development snapshots: they contain the latest changes, but they also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, they may not work at all.

Known issues:
If you used Opera link in a previous build and install this one on top of that, you need to log in again to make it work.
Plugins on UNIX are still in a shaky state

Bugs fixed
Fixed certificate installation on skandiabanken.no (for real this time)
Fixed issue where it was not possible to exit small screen rendering if the page had a handheld stylesheet
Several fixes to inline find
Big images are again displayed properly
Fixed CRAM-MD5 mail authentication
Fix disappearing panels and personal bar items if one client did not sync them
Implemented merging of bookmark files if you open a new one - a dialog will ask if they should be merged

Spoiler: UNIX plugin milestone

After creating the Gtk-enabled pluginwrapper for Kestrel Alpha, the second UNIX plugin milestone is reached. As the UNIX snapshot users have seen, plugins have been in a very unstable state the last few weeks - now the new work is in and we can reveal that we have added support for windowless plugins! Now this has been present on Windows and Mac for a while now, but the mixing of toolkits and the out of process plugins make this quite a breakthrough for us. Currently the windowless plugin can use Gtk to draw directly on the webpage of a Qt browser . There is still no real windowless plugin for UNIX - we are basing our implemetation on this proof-of-concept plugin - add this patch to the DiamondX plugin :

We will add our own patch to this soon, to make dialogs always appear on top of the browser window. Any experimental plugins using this interface would be very interesting to us.

The problem was solved by spoofing the plugin We now say that we are Firefox - we have brought this to Adobe's attention and are looking forward to future versions of the FlashPlayer. This spoofing can be turned off by setting the OPERA_PLUGINWRAPPER_NO_SPOOF environment variable.

We have also worked out a lot of other minor bugs and look forward to getting even more reports from you.

WARNING: Previous Kestrel builds will not be able to read your mail after updating to this (and subsequent) snapshot builds. Make a backup.

• Just a few UNIX builds this time - and no, Sparc builds aren't among those...

Завершена новая веха в развитии UNIX плагинов после создания Gtk pluginwrapper для альфы.
Как могли видеть пользователи сборок под UNIX, плагины были в весьма шатком состоянии в последние несколько недель - сегодня работа была завершена и мы можем её представить - мы добавили поддержку безоконных плагинов!
Пока мы представляем её для Windows и Mac, но одновременная разработка пакета разработчика и плагина - это для нас прорыв!
В настоящее время в безоконный плагине можно использовать GTK для непосредственной отрисовки на странице Qt-браузера.
Это всё ещё неполноценный безоконный плагин для UNIX - для активизации этого экспериментального плагина установите патч для DiamondX:

Свой собственный плагин с поддержкой отображения диалогов поверх всех окон браузера мы выпустим немного позже.

Проблема была решена обманом плагина. Мы как и Firefox заявили об этом Adobe и ждём обновлённой версии Flash плеера.
Эта "обманка" может быть отключена изменением переменной OPERA_PLUGINWRAPPER_NO_SPOOF.
Мы также работали над исправлением множества других мелких багов и в дальнейшем ждём от Вас ещё больше отчётов об ошибках.

ПРЕДУПРЕЖДЕНИЕ: Это тестовая сборка: она содержит последние изменения, но также имеет известные проблемы, включая ситуации, приводящие к «падениям» и потерям данных. К тому же, она может вообще не работать.

Известные проблемы:

• Возможны падения при запуске виджетов.
• Счётчик непрочитанных сообщений может ошибаться
• Опера под UNIX может вылетать при закрытии вкладки во время инициализации flash.
• В этот раз несколько сборок под UNIX, но среди них нет сборки для Sparc...

Исправленные ошибки

• Исправлены искажения тем в почте (!!!)
• Изменилась версия базы данных писем (т.е. откат на предыдущие версии невозможен)
• Исправлены разделители в скинах.
• Из пользовательского интерфейса удалён minch.
• XHTML документы теперь сохраняются с правильным расширением.
• Короткие имена папок теперь работают в панели адреса.
• Документы MathML обрабатываемые с корректным MIME типом application/mathml+xml можно открывать непосредственно
• Исправлен глюк, когда сообщения могли отображаться не в тех представлениях с пустым телом сообщения.

UNIX

• Добавлена поддержка безоконных плагинов в UNIX.
• В плагине Acrobat Reader теперь работает клавиатурный ввод.
• Исправлено открытие телнет и групп новостей во внешних приложениях.
• Несколько исправлений с неактивными диалогами.
• Исправлена большая загрузка процессора и использования памяти при загрузке torrent-файлов.

You haven't seen me before, but I've been on the desktop team for a few months already. I only now got pressured into writing a blog post though. My name's Cato, and I do mainly Windows testing.

As you may see, we now finally have sparc solaris builds! There are some issues with it (crashes when you try to use mail), but we thought you shouldn't have to wait longer.

In other news, we've written a handy FAQ for this blog, which you can locate in the equally handy sidebar we added over there on the right. We plan to link to useful articles there as soon as we write them so you don't have to search through the archives to find them.

• [BUG 295195] Download preferences are broken after saving changes. This leads to many seemingly separate bugs, such as wrong MIME-type when uploading JPG images or headers displayed in MHTML documents

Spoiler: New snapshot - Windows skin work

WARNING: These are development snapshots: they contain the latest changes, but they also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, they may not work at all.

New known issues:

• UNIX: Tooltips with the native skins look weird.
• Last week's snapshot (Windows build 9735, Mac build 4603, and Linux/UNIX build 1754) contained a serious IMAP bug that could cause internal data corruption. This problem is most likely to affect those with TLS enabled. Symptoms include headers displaying, but bodies missing and/or duplicates messages. The underlying cause of this corruption is fixed in this snapshot, but unfortunately, there's no fix for the corruption. The only way to fix this corruption is to delete your Mail directory and start over.

Skin changes:
The last week has seen quite a bit of work on improving the native skin on Windows. This includes both the "classic" look and the XP/Vista themed look. Some of the improvements you will see in this regard are:

• The background in the panel selector toolbar is less dark
• Close buttons in tabs and notifications have native elements
• Tooltips and notifications have native elements
• Margins on the dropdown button are gone
• The element used to show/hide the list in Delete Private Data and other places is native
• The sort arrows up/down on listview column headers are native
• The tabs in the Windows "classic" skin are now more like real tabs and no longer sunken buttons

There will be more skin changes forthcoming.

• Предыдущая еженедельная сборка (9735|4603|1754) серьёзную ошибку в реализации IMAP, которая могла вызывать внутренние повреждения данных. Эта проблема в основном касается тех, у кого включен протокол TLS. Симптомы включают отображение заголовков писем при повреждённых телах и/или дублирование сообщений. Изменения в скине:

Stability fixes are coming your way! We are looking into releasing an update to Merlin: 9.26. It will address several stability issues, mainly on Mac where we have received several reports that we have been having trouble to reproduce. So, feedback from you is welcome! Furthermore, we are fixing a stability issue with TLS and the upcoming Windows 2008 Server (IIS 7).

We are also addressing a few security issues; details will be published in due time.

Mozilla notified us of one security issue the day before they published their public advisory. They did not wait for us to come back with an ETA for a fix: they kept their bug reports containing the details of the exploits closed to the public for a few days, and now opened most of them to everybody.

Opera is as always committed to not only protecting its users, but to making the Web a safe place. We believe in responsible disclosure of vulnerabilities affecting several vendors.

It's been a while since our last snapshot build. Some things fell apart while others were shaping up nicely - so we are very happy to show you some good improvements now!

Known issues:

• There are some funky parsing problems on Youtube.
• "Open With" other browsers doesn't work.
• Save As for a web page only lets you save as "HTML file" on Windows.
• The progress bar does not show if it's set to "Pop-up at the bottom".
• On Mac scrolling to the bottom of a page with the scrollbars does not work.

• Fixed downloading attachments in the new Yahoo! mail.
• Fixed async XMLHttpRequest to never be blocked by a slow script.
• Fixed internal plugin methods not accessible from javascript engine when data attribute defined.

• Fixed insertNode to not collapse range.
• Fixed removeNamedItem() and removeNamedItemNS() to throw a not-found error.
• Fixed NodeIterator to function well also under dynamic changes.
• Fixed Date.UTC() to do proper 1900 year offsetting.

Windows specific:

• Better performance with plugins.

Mac specific:

• Shift+space for Page Up works again.
• Function keys work again.
• Opera now uses the proper OS X Downloads folder by default.
• Changed the icon in alert and prompt dialogs to something prettier.

UNIX specific:

• Fixed crash when closing tab with Flash.

Another round of builds, this time with more polish to the Dragonfly integrated window, as well as small, but important improvements all over. Also, the repaint issues should be fixed.
